Zen Master Ajahn Chah was walking with his disciples when he stopped and pointed to a large rock by the roadside.
“Does this rock seem heavy to you?” he asked.
The disciples replied that yes, it was very heavy.
Ajahn Chah smiled. “It has no weight at all,” he said, “unless you make the effort to lift it.”
The burden you carry is only as heavy as the effort you put into carrying it. Some things we pick up without being asked. Some things we hold long after they’ve stopped mattering.
Put the rock down.
