The Vietnamese phrase Nhân vô thập toàn — “no person is perfect in all ten” — refers not to arbitrary perfection, but to the Ten Virtues (Paramita) from Buddhist philosophy:

  1. Equanimity — letting go, without attachment or aversion
  2. Discipline — the Five Precepts governing ethical conduct
  3. Wisdom — understanding from listening, observation, and meditation
  4. Diligence — mental strength and unwavering commitment
  5. Tolerance — forgiveness and forbearance
  6. Determination — overcoming obstacles through resolve
  7. Truthfulness — alignment between words and actions
  8. Compassion — loving-kindness without attachment
  9. Patience — endurance through difficulty
  10. Generosity — selfless service without ulterior motives

To fully embody all ten is enlightenment. The rest of us are simply works in progress.
