There’s a trend of people abandoning careers and livelihoods to pursue spiritual practice — believing that meditation alone will sustain their lives and that this is the truest path.
It isn’t. Not in most cases.
Spiritual practice should integrate into daily responsibilities, not replace them. If you have a child depending on you, how do you justify leaving your income behind in search of enlightenment? Who bears the cost of your spiritual vacation?
Practicing compassion and integrity in your actual life — as a parent, a worker, a neighbor — is valid spiritual practice. Every situation that demands patience, honesty, and care is your training ground.
Self-development should never become a burden someone else is asked to carry.
