Notice what happens after each action you take. Is there regret? If so, suffering follows — and continues as long as regret persists.

The same is true of doubt. The moment doubt appears, suffering begins. It grows as long as the doubt remains unresolved.

This means the antidote to suffering is not the removal of difficulty — it’s the removal of regret and doubt. Act with integrity and conviction. When you make a mistake, make amends quickly and move forward. Don’t let either regret or doubt take up permanent residence.

Each step forward, taken without regret, is a step in peace.
