Rather than hoping that travel will transform you, try this: reduce your sense of self and your attachment to possessions before you go. The smaller your ego, the more space there is for genuine experience to enter.

The author visited Đà Lạt five times with evolving intentions — first for personal enjoyment, then with awareness of the community around him, then with attention to the natural environment. Each visit deepened understanding in ways the first visit couldn’t.
